July 25, 2010. The 1 year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death. Below is the post I wrote from Mexico while I was grieving like so many. Since then, I have learned that Michael Jackson and my grandmother, 2 very significant people in my life, were both born and both died on the same day! The connection I have with MJ is only stronger with time. If we can learn anything from his life, hopefully it is to appreciate genius and to care for our children because the early wounds of childhood do manifest in the strangest ways in adulthood.
My lifetime work with wounded children verifies this and Michael Jackson’s life story is yet another reminder. In his memory, we can honor MJ by finding a child to love and to mentor and to be gentle to our own. Firm and loving guidance with accountability is what our children need; not cruelty. MJ reminded us of this often; to think about the children! I can hear his voice right now!

In your work with children, you shared my love and reverence for the precious responsibility we have caring for children across the globe.
I remember going to see you in concert in Denver, Colorado
Seeing you sing, ‘I’ll Be There’
Was one if the highlights of my life
I cried then too
Though they were tears of joy.
I feel and believe that now
You are hovering above the planet
With loving angels
Seeing it shine and vibrate with your love
Your gifts
Your music
Affirming above all
Why you came to us
You Beautiful Being!
The highest powers there are
Have already forgiven you for any and every
Thing you ever did that may have been incorrect, inappropriate, or inconceivable
As we all will be equally forgiven someday too!
